About the Role

SEVO Bioscience (sevobioscience.com) is building a proprietary microalgae expression platform to deliver veterinary vaccines. As a Senior Scientist in an early-stage company, you'll own the bench science behind the vaccines, generating expression and quantification data that advances the platform. Working within a small team, you'll be an essential intellectual contributor and grow with the company.

Requirements

  • PhD in molecular biology, synthetic biology, biochemistry, plant/algal biology, or related field (MSc + 5 years relevant industry experience also considered)
  • Hands-on expertise in molecular cloning and vector construction, and with CRISPR-Cas9 editing in a eukaryotic system
  • Proficiency with PCR/RT-qPCR (primer design, assay validation, data interpretation) and in vitro protein assays (ELISA, Western blot, protein quantification)
  • Demonstrated track record of independent experimental design and troubleshooting; clear scientific writing in English
  • Direct microalgae experience (transformation, nuclear or chloroplast expression, photoautotrophic culture) strongly preferred. Alternatively, a strong plant biology background, ideally including plastid biology, is expected.
  • Ability to lead and grow the laboratory operations.

Preferred

  • Fluorescence microscopy, including fluorescent protein reporter imaging and basic quantitative image analysis
  • Familiarity with algal cell biology
  • Working knowledge of French
